What a lovely way to show your mother that you care by giving her a fabulous floral arrangement.
This arrangement features pink roses, mauve alstroemeria, leucadendrons and pale green orchids arranged in a triangular shape.
A round container has been used as a base.
Florist foam has been soaked in water for several minutes and placed in the base.
The top of the foam should stand at least 5cm above the edge of the container so the side stems can be inserted in the foam.
Starting at the top, the two leucadendrons have been cut to the desired length and placed one slightly lower than the other.
Foliage has been placed down the sides to form a triangle shape.
The pink roses have been placed down the centre in a zigzag line.
The orchids have been placed down the sides and one at the base.
Short pieces of foliage have been placed between the flowers to fill in the centre of the arrangement.
Alstroemeria has been placed between the other flowers.
Wide leaves have been folded into loops, wired across the base with 22 gauge florist wire and inserted in the base.
The foam should be topped up with water every couple of days

This chic floral design is something different.
A small block of florist foam has been soaked in water and placed in clear gladwrap.
A ti leaf has been cut to the desired length, placed around and secured with a couple of dressmaking pins.
The stems of roses and berries have been cut short and inserted in the foam.
A piece of vine with a couple of berries threaded on it is tied around the sides.
One is placed on each plate and it makes a unique gift for each guest to take home.
A piece of vine has been spiralled around the fork.

This is an unusual idea for a wedding.
Wine glasses has been used to make table centrepieces.
A few olives have been placed in the bottom of the glass which is filled with water.
A small flat container with soaked foam has been placed on the top and secured in position.
The foliage and flowers have been cut to the desired length.
The foliage has been placed around the edges.
The flowers including orchids, chrysanthemums and roses have been placed in the arrangement with a couple of orchid stems with buds inserted to extend down the sides of the glass.
Foliage has been placed between the flowers.
A bunch of grapes have been wired and inserted in the front of the foam.

These roses are wrapped loosely in pink weave wrap.
To show off their beauty these roses would be perfect arranged on their own in a clear glass vase filled three quarters of the way with water.
Always choose a container to suit the size of the arrangement.
For good balance the flowers should stand at least one and a half times the height of the container but can always go higher.
Men often buy red flowers - but studies have shown many women prefer pink.
St Valentines Day is usually the busiest day for the florist. Red flowers are in short supply at St Valentines Day so the florist should also stock pink flowers so they can offer an alternative choice.

The weather here today is just perfect and the gardens look wonderful.
Roses are the most loved flowers in the world.
There are thousands of varieties in many shades from the palest to the most vibrant colours.
Roses are named after famous people including Audrey Hepburn, Barbra Streisand, Agatha Christie, John F Kennedy and Paul McCartney.
Queen Elizabeth has had several roses named after her.
It's best to pick roses in the early morning or late evening when there is the most moisture in the air.
Cut the stems on a slant and remove the lower leaves from the stems. Place them in a container filled one third with water in a cool spot for several hours before arranging them.
You can use a commercial preservative or a capful of household bleach to help cut down on bacteria so the roses will last longer. This is called conditioning.
If you buy roses cut the ends of the stems on a slant and condition them in the same way.

This hand tied bouquet of roses would make a lovely gift for someone special.
Twelve roses and wax flowers surrounded with foliage and spear grass loops
have been used in this bouquet.
The rose and wax flower stems have been cut to the desired length and the
lower leaves removed.
Choose the largest rose for the centre and hold it in the left hand about
15cm below the base of the flower head.
Add about five more roses around having them slightly lower and crisscross
the stems on an angle where you are holding them, whilst turning the bouquet
around clockwise.
Add the remaining roses around in the same way having them extend out
slightly more to the sides. The bouquet should be slightly rounded across the
top.
Add the wax flowers around the edges in the same way and then the
foliage.
Secure all the stems together with a few twists of twine.
Cut the spear grass to the desired length and run it between your fingers to
make it pliable and form it into loops, dip the ends in strong glue and insert
the loops in two rows between the flowers around the edges.
Cut the ends of the flower and foliage stems level and spray the bouquet
lightly with water
Place organza ribbon around the stems and tie it in a bow with ribbon ends.
Stand the bouquet in a container of water.
